What is a Soft Start?
Soft start in a pneumatic circuit is a technical process aimed at gradually increasing air pressure within the system. This method prevents mechanical impacts and shocks that can occur with sudden starts. It enables a controlled and gradual start of pneumatic flow, protecting sensitive components, reducing wear, and enhancing operator safety.
Operating Principle of a Soft Start Valve
A fundamental feature of soft start valves is their pressure control mechanism. During the feed phase, these valves use a shutter to open a limited air passage, introducing controlled air into the pneumatic circuit and ensuring controlled movement of pneumatic actuators. During this phase, an internal passage connects the outlet pressure to the valve's control, and when this pressure reaches approximately 50% of the supply pressure, the valve switches the internal shutter to fully open the passage.
